On Water Day: Guided tours of the Burgau waterworks

Where does my drinking water come from? And what exactly is in the No. 1 foodstuff?  How can I contribute to this? Answers to these and many other questions about drinking water in Jena will be provided on Friday, 22 March. This time, the JenaWasser association is inviting visitors to the Burgau waterworks for Water Day. While the morning is reserved for school classes, other interested parties are welcome in the afternoon at Reifsteinweg 20.  

From 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., visitors can take part in guided tours of the plant, find out about the origin, composition and quality of the drinking water and taste water flavored with herbs and fruit at the water bar. The wastewater department will also be presenting itself with a camera vehicle for sewer inspections. In the trailer workshop, young people can test their skills under the motto „screwing instead of playing games“. There will also be information on apprenticeships in the field of environmental technology and other professional fields as well as on careers in the Stadtwerke Jena Group. Admission to the event is free of charge.

Please note: There are no parking spaces available on site at the waterworks. Please use the buses and streetcars of the Jena public transport system (stops Burgau-Park or Sparkassen-Arena). From the parking lots at the Sparkassen-Arena or Burgau-Park, it is only a short walk to the waterworks at Reifsteinweg 20.
