Conversion starts this week

This week (8. From April 8 to 12, 2024), Jena's public transport system will be upgrading to the next generation of Dynamic Passenger Information (DFI) at the Felsenkeller, Platanenstraäe, Universitätsklinikum, Westbahnhofstraäe and Winzerla stops. The new monitors have larger displays, larger lettering and a higher-contrast display to better support passengers with impaired vision. In addition, the DFI displays offer a read-aloud function that can be started by pressing a button to ensure barrier-free local public transport.

The conversion requires the dismantling of the old installations, the digging of new foundations and the erection of new masts. Commissioning of the new passenger information pillars is planned for mid-July 2024. Until then, passengers will have access to the displays at the stops.

A total of 70 new systems will be installed by 2029, with 32 stops already equipped with the new DFI displays.
