Starting signal for the 2024 outdoor pool season: Jena's swimming pools welcome the first guests in the most beautiful sunshine and present innovations

At 10 a.m. on the dot, the Jena swimming and leisure company opened the gates to the outdoor pool, officially ushering in the 2024 outdoor pool season. In the morning, more than 50 visitors were already queuing in eager anticipation to be the first to enjoy the 15-degree water of the Schleichersee lake.

The race for first place was won by 83-year-old Gitti Kaiser, who was welcomed by event manager Stefan Figenser and managing director Susan Zetzmann. Together with her husband, she has been a regular at the popular outdoor pool for many years and was delighted to receive a bouquet of flowers, small gifts and a cold drink.

As temperatures rose to over 26 degrees during the course of the day, the number of bathers increased steadily, with an average of 100 new visitors per hour. People of all ages celebrated the start of the outdoor pool season together.

However, the focus today was not only on the opening of the outdoor pool. Managing Director Susan Zetzmann announced exciting innovations for the swimming pool. There was still a gaping excavation pit where the pool attendant's house used to stand. But tomorrow, May 2, a Tiny House will be delivered on a heavy goods vehicle. This half-timbered house was built in Saalfeld by the Hantschel joinery. It offers a complete interior consisting of an air-conditioned lounge with a mini sanitary area, sanitary facilities and WC.

The kiosk will also be given a new branding, a new name and an expanded catering concept. For particularly sunny times, six more racks have been erected to provide shade and a huge new awning has been installed at the beach bar. In total, Jena Bäder is investing around 200,000 euros in these new features for the season.

From now on, the swimming pool is open every day: in May and September from 10 am to 6 pm and during the months of June, July and August from 9 am to 8 pm. In the event of unfavorable weather conditions, there may be daily changes, which will be displayed on the ticker on the homepage www.stadtwerke-jena/.de .
